[sticky post] An opening chat (or, about me).
Hi there! By chance you stumbled upon my journal (may it be through friending memes, common comms, or by chance, perhaps?), and I'm glad that you did. Regardless of how, here's hoping that we'd get along and form a friendship that pierces the heavens. Or something to that extent. (Kamina made the phrase awesome, so why not?)

So, about me, you say?

Basic stuff:
So my name's Steph (but I also like being called 1306, or this new nickie I made up, Doodlygook--don't ask how that happened); I'm 19 and I'm from the Philippines. Land of the coconuts, jeepneys, and other potpourri, right?
My folks are the coolest people I know. My mom used to work in a bank, and my dad used to work in Intel. I'd like to think they're retired now, but they just won't stop working. Guess I know where I got the "hardworking" bit everyone keeps telling me.

I'm currently in college, taking up Animation. Which pretty much means I'm surrounded by all manners of cartoons, anime, and animated movies--and I'm LOVING it. I know, it's a long and winding road up to becoming an animator, but whatever the circumstances, I'm more than determined to get there.

Gathering from what other people tell me, I'm talkative, creative, optimistic, hardworking, and at times, off-the-rails crazy. I would agree with most of that, if you'd allow me a little vanity now and then.
I've had ADHD for as long as I can remember--specifically, since grade school. It shows, to be honest; I tend to go everywhere when it comes to things I need to do, and my attention span is nothing I'd brag about, to be honest.
I'm borderline perfectionist sometimes. I know that that's a complete impossibility, but I slip into the habit sometimes. Though I won't force my perfectionism on others, because that's just plain rude.

See, this stuff should've been on my profile page, but since I haven't updated that in a while... *innocent whistle*

On the subject of hobbies, I write and draw a lot. These are the two main things that take up most of my life at that moment. I write lots of original fiction rather than fanfic (but I still do some fanart here and there), and all my writings have found a home in a comm called runaway_tales. As for art, there's my deviantART account, but I'm trying to branch out into more sites, just because I need to expand my audience, so to say. If you have write fic (fanfic or original) and draw, I'd love to see them! I love seeing fellow artists/writers and their works and exchanging ideas.
I read a lot as well. But this is me, Sir I-Buy-a-Lot-But-Never-Get-Around-To-Reading-Them. I spend the most on books, yet I've yet to read a lot of them.
As for other hobbies, I bike, play the drums (occasionally; it used to be a more frequent before college), take photos, dabble in a bit of graphic design, and stuff like those.

Now we go to interests. Hoo boy, let's see...well, on the subject of books, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, historical--oh, let's just say EVERYTHING interests me. Space and nature are some of my biggest interests as of late, and with the former, my heart belongs to a certain "dwarf" planet named Pluto. Nope, can't hold my feels towards that one planet. It's like Pluto is my spirit planet or something (forget spirit animal; why have that when you can have a planet?).
Also, I would cook if I could, but I'm afraid of setting fire to everything I touch. XDD

We get to the (sort of) bulk of this post. I've been busy as of late because of college, but I still keep tabs on my fandoms.

My top 10 as of right now, in no particular order:
1. The Sims
3. Homestuck (would you believe I'm still stuck on Act One?)
4. Everything Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks
5. Marvel/DC (I don't play favorites)
7. How to Train Your Dragon
8. Everything Nintendo
9. Fullmetal Alchemist
10. The Mother/Earthbound games

Other stuff that comes to mind are One Piece, Sakamichi no Apollon, NCIS, Merlin, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Dead Space, Silent Hill to name a few.

Musicians/bands/artists I listen to get a special section dedicated to them, too.

My top 10 as of right now, in no particular order:
2. Owl City
3. The Mars Volta
4. Bjork
5. Lights
6. Adele
7. Florence + The Machine
8. Fiona Apple
9. Coldplay
10. Muse

Other special mentions are Dream Theater, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Kanye West, to name a few.

What is this politics you speak of?

I'm a Protestant, and I believe in religious freedom, no matter what background you may come from. I don't mind if you believe in a god or not; that's what you choose to believe in, and you're still cool to me. :)

Any form of animal abuse triggers me greatly. And there's not much that ticks me off after that, to be honest.

What do I post in my journal?
Everything. That's pretty much it. One entry I might be spouting out space feels; the next, writing and art stuff; after that, some real life stuff; and maybe after that, fangasming. I don't stick with posting just this or that. I go all-out. Random madness is random.

And to close this off, here's a few places you can find me in as well:
Tumblr: creaturefeatured
deviantART: doodlescribble

Comms I'm in on LJ:

I think you're my spirit animal. Like a good portion of my yearly budget goes towards books. I buy them in all forms, paperback, hardcover, ebooks, audiobooks. I just freaking love books!

Love the fandoms and music as well!

Yay, spirit animal! I tend to buy them in paperback and snag a few (read: a dozen or so :P) ebooks as well. Hardcover sometimes just feels too expensive for me; that's where I cover all my paperbacks in plastic.

And thanks :)

I shall definitely use this meme :D

Heehee, I can't wait to see that :)

Hello, again. Just became friends recently. This was a nice read to get to know more about you. You seem/are very nice and talkative and I love that in a LJ friend and look forward to talking more even if it isn't about fandom. I'm also quite talkative too

Hmm, some personal stuff that is helpful to know about me so you understand some of my posts. 2 and half years ago I had a mental break down, ended up being diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder, Clinical Depression (both you need to have had for more then 3 months) Tons of trying medication and 6 months later, I was stabilized and felt good, but my personality went through a dramatic change. Before this happened, I was an anti-social introvert who was scared shitless of people, paranoid, low self-esteem, etc. But after recovering I was over extroverted, with no shame about anything really, talkative, the life of party, funny, etc. So that's pretty much why you'll see random topics posted on my LJ, with random fangirling, ranting (the funny kind) and some TMI that most people would never post (not naked pictures or anything, just personal experiences I that happened to me that I found interesting or funny. I don't think my diagnosis are illnesses or things that hold me back; I think they gave me advantages. I also have a boyfriend who I've been with for a 1 and a half years, I may mention him in my posts sometimes.

You said you have ADHD, so you might have better chance of understanding these feelings then some people would. XD

I hate animal abuse. I mean I went to Nursing school and cut up dead animals in my time, but they were dead and for science. But someone torturing an animal while its alive? They should die. When someone linked me to kitten Crush I wanted to find that high heeled bitch and...yeah *looks at the TNT box*

I have a lot of music in common with you. When a music meme comes around, we can swap reccs. :)

I also enjoy art too. I draw some of my own, all fanart. I'm trying to get better at it.

Basically, when I comment,I comment on things I want to know about if I don't know what you are talking about. I'll defiantly comment when you are talking about a fandom or anything I'm into. If its a post about something I don't care for for whatever reason, I just ignore it. XD Since one word comments are kind of pointless IMO (though not annoying or anything)

Hi again :)
I don't think there's a moment where I can stay silent for about five minutes (if ever, it's somewhat subconsciously). And sometimes I feel like I need to read/watch/play something before I can talk about it, so that's why I don't usually talk about fandoms too often.

Whoa, are you me? I have both of those as well (which is why I do need to tell my folks if they can spare some money for a counselor/psychiatrist). I still have some struggles with paranoia and self-esteem up to now, but I would negate that with talking a lot. And I agree with you; these kinds of diseases shouldn't be stumbling blocks for anybody--it's a struggle, I get it, but I would see to it everyday I would battle it by filling my mind with whatever positive thoughts there might be.

Arrrrrgh, I heard about that video. I had never wanted to strangle and disembowel someone so badly after seeing what they had done to that kitten. Like seriously--what do these people gain from doing that? *gets slightly emotional; calms down a bit*

Yes, music recs (or recs in general) sound awesome. And I'd like to see some of that fanart, too :) And I don't mind if whatever I post doesn't fancy you sometimes; that's perfectly fine. :)

Hello new friend! We have so much in common. I finally found someone who also likes Owl City! And I'm also a fan of Sims, Legend of Korra/Avatar, Sherlock. How to Train Your Dragon and FMA. I'm also on Deviantart! Though I don't draw, I post pictures. My best friend and roommate is an artist. She considered going into Animation for awhile but she's just doing illustration now. And I lurk over at ONTD myself. I can't help it. Some of those posts are hysterical.

Oh! And this is my intro page. :)

I'm glad to hear that! :D

OH MY GOD OWL CITY. Have you heard his new album? It's going to be different this time around; I can't wait to hear what he's done differently. Nine times out of ten (or ten times out of ten, take your pick), it'll be awesome. :D

Illustration sounds cool; I think that was one of my choices for college, but I had just too many feels towards animation, so... ;)

ONTD can be hysterical sometimes--though I stress on "sometimes". But overall, it can get hilarious there, especially with the gifs or comments some of them make.

Off to check out your intro page now :)

Yeees! I bought his EP he released in June and I'm really excited for the album coming out next week. I listened to the previews on iTunes and he's really done some playing to his sound but personally I love it. I love following artists as they improve and make changes and experiment. I actually had the opportunity to see him in concert when he was on tour for Ocean Eyes, and he's coming here again in October. I'm going to try and see him again.

The gifs and comments are the best part, seriously!

I love any artist that's willing to experiment with whatever sound they have at the moment. Not the same old, tried-and-tested. It shows that they're willing to step out of their comfort zone and do new things.

I constantly save gifs and keep comments in mind for some snappy comebacks, for real :D

Was browsing your fandom list and saw :

Sims? One of these days I'm going to get back in to Sims3.

I like Kora, but a part of me wishes they had continued on with Aang.

I know you don't play favorites with Marvel and DC, but what are your favorite characters?

Ok, that's enough rambling for now.
aw jeez, rick: [Mother 3] Lucas13066301 on August 15th, 2012 11:34 am (UTC)
Hi :)

I'm a Sims 2 person, to be frank, but being able to play TS3 a few times already makes me want it.

My feelings towards Aang's story is that they've already done what they could with it, and gave it a more-than-satisfying ending. And they did show bits and pieces of the Gaang all grown up in Korra.

Hmmm, that's a toughie. Right now the few superheroes I can think of are most of the Avengers and a lot of the Teen Titans (especially Superboy). That's all I got for now, though.

we both 19! ~brofist~

and you're taking animation! what do you guys do there besides "actually animating stuff"? my brother kinda wants to take animation too.

aw jeez, rick: [Regina Spektor]13066301 on August 15th, 2012 11:37 am (UTC)
Yeah! *brofists back*

From experience, you do a lot of stuff on different programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, Maya, things like those), and in my current term, you learn how to record and manipulate sound effects and music for not just animation, but for other things. For one thing, I think we've learned how to do Youtube Poops by dubbing over episodes of cartoons :P It's fun for the most part, of course; just expect a bit of a heavy workload.

If your brother has a passion for art and animation in general, and he genuinely wants to improve on his craft, then I say go for it! Take up animation; it'll be fulfilling to see where your hard work goes. :)
